Why Raw?
What is all the fuss about eating raw food?
Why should I eat raw food?
Its only food, isn’t it?
Of course it is only food but look around there is massive discrepancies in the types of food people consume. It is fair to say then that not all food is created equal and consequently physical and emotional conditions are unavoidable. What do I mean by that last statement?
Let us do a mental test (or real if you are so inclined)…
Think of eating a large meal of take-out pizza overloaded with cheese, as many toppings as you want, lets have a stuffed crust whilst we are at it and my favourite cheesy chips (to non-UK folk this is greasy thick fries with melted cheese over the top, delicious or so I used to think). Lets wash this down with a massive drink of coke or a few beers and oohhh I feel a little room for some chocolate cheesecake. Now let me unbutton my jeans slouch back and digest this little meal. Are you with me? Are you feeling this meal inside you? Yep?!
So how are you feeling?
Are you on top of the world?
Is your body primed and ready for action?
Do you feel sexy?
Do you wanna get up and dance?
Is that a NO I hear?!
So how does the meal make you feel? For me it makes me feel lethargic, unmotivated, uninspired. Yep it sure does a good job in making me feel bloated and satiated. Is this meal beneficial to me? I cannot see how as there are no nutrients zinging out to nourish my body. It fuels me but how long does that fuel last? Is it enough to put that into my body and expect it to work? Can you see where I am driving at with this analogy?
This food does not work if you want your body to be at its prime. Agree?
What then is the answer? Well, this is where I come in and tell you about the benefits of raw food. But just before I do, lets keep up with the mental testing and think of eating another meal…
This time imagine (or go and make it real) eating a juicy exotic pineapple then a great massive green salad packed full of lettuces, spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, olives, avocado, nuts and so on. Eat as much as you like. Still got room for more? Yeah?! Ok, lets have a little treat to go with this, a raw chocolate pudding. Lick your lips and how do ya feel?
I’m not going to offer you any suggestions of how you might feel as I want you to find out… but think of the questions posed above and write out your answers and see if they match the list of benefits I list below.
With the experiments out of the way, I want to now tell you about the fantastic benefits I see in myself and others when eating raw food...

These are just a few of the benefits of eating raw. There have been many examples of people curing cancer, MS, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes, to name just a few of the diseases, with the amazing power of raw food.
I suggest you journal your own personal journey as you start to incorporate raw food into your daily life. There is nothing more powerful than to see a before and after picture so I strongly recommend you photograph your progression as well as to write about your experiences. You will never truly remember how you used to be before you ate raw.
Now as a scientist, I should really go into all the whys and hows of raw food and its effect on the body but you know what, I don’t really think anyone has a clear enough reason for me to tell you. I’m a great believer in science and research but at times it’s used too much to justify doing something and this can take away the evidence presented before you which is eating this way just works.
To me as a Biochemist that spent time researching cell signaling pathways, I can tell you that the cell is indeed a complex and marvelous creation. So in simple terminology eating food in its natural state (ie not cooked) causes the correct cellular pathway to be activated and the cell reacts appropriately. We then see the positive benefits mentioned in the table above. Conversely, if the food is in an unnatural state, and the easiest example I can give you is to think of how egg white turns when cooked, it stands to reason that the correct cellular pathway is not triggered, therefore, creating an inappropriate cell reaction. We then see the negative benefits that a bad diet creates.
If there is anything you would like to clarify please feel free to you may need .
Are you now ready to go and discover your inner raw bombshell and find the benefits raw food can bring to you?
Have fun!
